1. Salt

Salt or sodium is the known food intake that kills you slowly. Compared to rest of the world Indians consume high salt per meal. High salt intake increases the risk of high blood pressure, heart diseases and stroke.

2. Tomatoes

The green, unripe tomatoes, leaves, and stems, contain small amounts of poison alkaloid tomatine, and solanine. The green tomatoes cause stomach upset, cramping, and anxiety. In olden days the use of tomato leaves resulted in several deaths.

3. Potatoes

The green potatoes contain a natural toxin called solanine. It causes vomiting, headaches, and paralysis of central nervous system. Solanine is a dangerous nerve toxin present in any green part of the potato. The leaves of potato are high in glycoalkaloids, a deadly poison.

4. Cucumber

Lima beans contain a protein called phytohemagglutinin (PHA) that is toxic if eaten raw. PHA is harmless if cooked for 10 minutes. The uncooked Lima beans contains most dangerous poison to man, ricin,that comes from the seeds of the castor bean.

Cherry pits contain cyanogenic glycosides – a cyanide which release poison into blood stream. Mild poisoning causes confusion, vomiting, dizziness, headaches. Larger dose leads to an increase in heart rate, blood pressure, kidney failure, coma, and death from respiratory arrest.

8. Apples

The Apple seeds are harmful. The enzymes of our body have the tendency to change the compounds in seeds into cyanide. Apple seeds called as pips, have a cyanide called amygdalin, turns into deadly hydrogen cyanide when metabolized by the body.

Potato chips are also one of food slowly killing you. They may harm your skin and clog up your arteries. The deep fried potatoes can cause colon cancer, breast cancer, bladder and prostate cancer.

14. White bread

White bread is also harmful food. White bread, and the foods with enriched wheat flour lead to spikes in blood pressure. They may also cause type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and arthritis.

15. Bitter Almonds

The bitter almonds are extremely poisonous. They contain a poison called glycoside Amygdalin. The glycoside amygdalin in bitter almonds turns into prussic acid in the body, commonly known as hydrogen cyanide.
